Key concepts

Application: a single deployable unit made of one or more containers, such as a WordPress app that includes the WordPress container and a MariaDB container.

Bundle: a marketplace listing that contains multiple independent public-facing apps with shared infrastructure, such as an Education Kit combining Moodle and Gibbon.

Marketplace Manifest (clv-docker-compose.yml): the configuration file that describes your app to the Clouve platform. It extends a standard Docker Compose file with x-clouve-* metadata fields.

Container Configuration: the process of defining each container's resources, environment variables, health checks, and storage, either through the web UI or by uploading a Docker Compose YAML file.

Clouve Platform: the internal Kubernetes manifest generator. It reads your container configuration and produces the K8s resources needed to deploy your app to any supported cloud.

Prerequisites

Before working through these docs, you need:

  • Docker installed and working locally
  • Familiarity with Docker Compose
  • A containerized application, or one in progress
  • A Clouve developer account (see Onboarding)
